I Thought GMC Was Out of Business?
I see on Ebay and Amazon UK that GMC are selling routers, they have an 1800watt variable speed one and a 710watt trimmer as well as other tools,

If you do a search for stockists in Australia on their website none come up even though they brag about the company starting in Aus. I guess they were always manufactured in China so it's no wonder that someone has started them up again under the same name and probably from the same manufacturing facility.

GMC and Triton brands are now owned by Silverline Tools in the UK.
The original owners of GMC tools still sells tools sold worldwide (on a much smaller scale) under 909 brand name with 909 days warranty for DIY/home users.Reuel

And lo, it came to pass that on the 910th day there was a loud fizzing noise, and billowing clouds of smoke did come forth. And the shed was filled with sounds of wailing and the gnashing of teeth. Here endeth the gospel according to GMC/909.

A quick follow up for 909 tools in Australia.
909 Tools and Brand Information
My understanding ( there was a thread on the GMC demise some time back when they pulled out of Oz) is that their eggs were almost all in one basket in Oz and when Bunnings pulled the pin there followed a catastrophic collapse. They reformed in the UK but clearly things did not go so well there either.
Just on 909, it appears their faith in major hardware chains had a doomed history:
"In Australia, the tools are distributed exclusively through Masters Hardware."

You are right. My bad.
From Powerbox.com
"Our brand portfolio includes Silverline, Triton, GMC (Global Machinery Company), Fixman and Task."
Another site: "Group Silverline, based in Yeovil, manufactures hand and power tools under the Silverline, GMC and Triton brands to companies based in Europe, the US, Australia and South Africa."
So GMC, Triton and Silverline are only marketed by Silverline tools but are brands owned by Powerbox?
Wonder what is the relationship between Powerbox and Silverline?Reuel
