yeah something CIG should be OK.
The satincraft are relative easy to strike and learn with - I dunno about strength etc.
These look pretty well priced.

Sounds reasonable all round. Funny reading that old post, and reading my own responses from '05.
Think I have forgotten more than I know.
Sadly, think I've also forgotten more than I knew as well! (think about it )"Clear, Ease Springs"

My harddrive (minddrive?) is fine - it has a rated storage of 1.74 (forgot the units used), but so far I've been able to pack 5.79 onto it without a problem. Well, one minor one - I can't recall a damned thing! My FAT (file allocation table) (aka hippocampus) must be stuffed! (Not unlike Cliff's by the sound of it )

Mind like a steel trap....
1. The retention is great but everything comes out mangled.
2. Kinda rusty & I have ta pry it open ta get things out.
3. Its illegal in to use it.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

The satincraft rods I have used are extremely easy and quite tolerant of an erratic hand. Of late I have been developing a mild tremor and found recently when I did a welding job that the satincraft were the easiest ones I had to use. They also gave me the best weld, from a technical point with my slight weave. I would suggest that these rods are well suited to people on the learning curve of arc welding
Another piece of information about rods, they don't work too well if they are allowed to absorb moisture. I find an hour or two in an electric oven at 50ºC spread out on a tray, will remove any mild moisture and make the rods perfect for welding again.

Damaged in transit
I bought one had to fiddle with TNT all week to actually get the unit
I got around to opening my GMC Welder only to find the case had been bashed and worse still The base is so damaged the adjustment knob at the front is not usable. The box was obviously sealed from the factory and had not been tampered with.
I could porbably repair the damage but was hoping for an out of the box solution , so disappointing when new toys dont work.
I did post a version of this whinge on Stu's Blog
So now to see what I can do to retrieve the situation

Damaged in Transit 2
Well just spoke with the fine folk at GMC they are going to replace the welder. Seems that they have had problems with TNT their preferred courier.
So its delayed gratification for me

TNT Oh No!
We have been getting a Rocking Horse made for us and have been advised it will leave Sydney on Tuesday by TNT..The maker said they will crate it and it is insured.
But if TNT can stuff up a small GMC delivery I will have some sleepless nights worrying about the Rocking Horse. Thank God it is insured.

Just to bring some finality to my above post regarding the impending delivery of our Rocking Horse from Sydney being delivered by TNT.
The horse arrived today in perfect condition so we have to say to TNT.
