Thread: HI to on here all from the Isle of Man. (Home of the TT Motorcycle races)

G'day all, well I suppose I'd better get with the local greeting.
So why am I here?
You can see from my name that I am indeed an Elderly Gent, but many years ago in the 1980s I bought one of the early Triton workcentres and was duly impressed. Many years later, a few weeks ago actually, being retired for some years I decided to upgrade my shed and went the whole Triton route. All this new stuff is mighty impressive, but it seems to take more time to set things up than to actually make things. I suppose practice will help there.
But now I need some advice. I need to add a sacrificial board to the workcentre fence, to raise its height so that vertical work can be held upright exactly. I am thinking of about 6 to 8 inches, or whatever that may be in Mm. The problem is that the back of the original fence is not flat, so there is nothing to clamp to. I do see a couple of small slots, one at either end of the fence, so I assume there is some way of attaching a board to the front of the fence, but HOW TO DO IT?
Talking or writing here leads me on to a moan about that fence................That I do not like, as it is impossibe to NUDGE it a fraction either way to or from the saw blade whenn creeping up to a mark. Most other fences with a singe side lock are kept at right angles to the blade all the time.
OK I maybe missing something here, but surely someone who has solved this will tell me how to fix it, well I hope so.
Otherwise all is fine and dandy.
Previous post on here seem to stop about 2012 so I hope this is not an omen of lack of use.
