    Default Jigsaw Kit Question

Hi everyone! I'm considering purchasing the above kit but I can't find any info on the Web regarding the maximum depth of cut possible. Can anyone advise me?' I have a Triton TJS001 saw... any comments about this saw/kit combo?

    Your saw lists capacities as:
    Wood - 85mm
    Metal - 6mm

However, these figures are for the saw hand-held, whereas the jigsaw kit requires that a proportion of the blade remains within the guide blocks. This can only reduce the capacity available, but you should really consider the kit as using a jigsaw as a scroll saw and not a bandsaw. The slightest strain on the blade will affect accuracy and will cause "wander" as you might expect.

I've cut 19mm MDF and even the same thickness ply made it struggle. The top of the blade will still deform if the feed rate is too high and I don't consider it to be a worthwhile accessory at all. I used one during my stint as a demonstrator, but only with MDF in public - anything else was embarrassing.

    Don't bother

I have one and it was next to useless, the hold down arm didn't tighten up enough properly cause the arm to rotate upwards and in attempts to tighten it a part of the clamp broke. I bodgied up a quick fix with a piece of wood for the clamp that actually was 100 times better.

It is not as good as even the cheap GMC scroll saw I bought.

You could make a simple on by clamping a jigsaw under a piece of MDF. There would be no support for eth tip of the blade, but it would still perform on par with the Triton accessory

Hi Ray! Sincere apologies for this delayed response to your post. I was hoping for a greater depth of cut than you pointed out and I had wondered about blade drift. Thank you for your valuable response. Guess I'll stick to my band saw for this type of operation.

    Regards&thanks
