Triton 2000 & Depth Of Cut Of Saw Blade
Hi all,
I have a Triton 2000 Workcentre and have put a Triton TA235CSL 235mm, 91/4 inch
circular saw into it. Also put a height winder attachment into it. The maximum depth of cut we get is dead on 2 inches! We have cut some timber it all seems to work OK.
Two inches max depth of cut, can't be right though? I got a 9 inch saw, to get I thought, at least 4 inches depth of cut set in a saw table, please advise?
Peter.

Sounds about right, maybe a little short of what it should be.
Remember, you have the saw mounted on a caddy, and then you need clearance of some amount between the bottom of the caddy and the top of the timber. As well, you need some extension of the blade below the timber.
From memory that saw has a maximum depth cut of about 80mm so maybe you are a little short.
I think my old setup could cut about a maximum of 60mm with a TRA001 saw and no height winder. The caddy was also rubbing on the top of the timber.
I now have an MBS 300 so I no longer have those issues.

Yes, my view was to sell the Triton and buy a dedicated table saw.
I liked my triton when it was all I had, but after getting a "proper" table saw, I now realise how limited and inaccurate it was.
As to modifying the saw to accept a bigger blade, my view is if they wanted it to have a 250mm blade, then that is what they would have built it with.
I guess you will have to do what all of us old Triton owners did, accept the limitations of it, or upgrade.

My Triton 2000 with hight winder, cuts 58mm in table saw mode and 70mm in cross cut mode.

I made the conversion to a 10" blade. I got an extra 3/8" depth of cut so I now can cut 65mm in Tablesaw mode.
Cheers

One tip you might follow up. The height locking lever on the original Triton saw has an unusual mechanism which requires care to fully lock. If you don't, the saw can slump down.
