There are 6 in total - you can enter one, a few or all - it is all data! This is, IMHO, the most influential, collaborative effort we have ever had to influence future design directions, especially as it was requested by the manufacturing company, so if I can influence you at all - don't miss the opportunity to participate.

Stuart - any update on what is happening with Triton in Oz??

Months have gone by, and we've all given up and started buying all our Triton stuff in the UK where it is readily available.

Having Triton go belly up certainly upset a lot of their customers, but I can tell you that the continued uncertainty concerning their presence in Australia certainly isn't making them any new friends........

I've heard nothing for as long. Has Global Power Brands (GMC2) simply abandoned Australia?

No idea, but I'm getting to the point of wondering whether just to flick the last of my orange tools and investing in something still sold (and supported) in Australia. Or whether just to use them until they die a premature (ie non-spares available) death and get something new (and potentially green flecked) when it happens. There are some really nice (but significantly expensive) routers out there.

As far as the circular saw - I ditched the Chinese Triton aways back, and kept the original saw, and will keep that one. Unkillable at the time, and still nothing to convince me otherwise.

I really don't know anymore.

I will be mounting the Triton router and Triton Saw onto the Torque Workcentre - perhaps that is where the future lies for previous Triton aficionados.

Stuart - sorry, with all the surveys and stuff I though that you had the inside running on what was happening with Triton. Sounds like, for whatever reason, they have decided to leave Australia in the lurch !

It seems that spares are readily available from other countries (UK, NZ for example), so we should be able to keep our Triton toys running for a while. Like you though, I've gradually changed to other brands, notably Festool. The MOF001 is the only Triton product I've kept, mainly because I built a router table around the thing and it will be a pain to change to another router.

I've ordered enough brushes to keep me going a few years with the MOF001, plus a couple of the fine height adjust worm gears that get chewed up, but if anything other than that breaks its going in the bin !

A Festool router would be my choice of replacement for handheld, but would be overkill for table use IMHO

I purchased a Triton Workcentre and most of the accessories at the start of this year. Router, router table, extension table, jigsaw, 235mm circ saw, biscuit joiner, jigsaw table, bevel ripping guide, etc. All were brand new items which I had to hunt far and wide for as the GMC/Triton collapse had already occurred. I was a staunch Triton man until I found God's gift to power tools.....

My advice is sell any Triton gear you have, take a trip to your serious power tools dealer and buy Festool. Forget the orange garbage

Honestly, kids do grow up one day and learn to appreciate the things they got and that money does not grow on trees.

Parted with my Orange tools today (well except the router), it was a long road, but alas i did not use it as much as i thought I would, as uni got in the way.

Kinda makes me feel sad, and also sheds a new light on wether i should be spending money on new equipment, as i still have two more years of uni to go.

But as a beginner, the Triton range of tools are fantastic for their value (2nd hand), but are however more suited to larger pieces of work then those of small box making.


NB. Scratch that, i need a hobby, and a cast iron tablesaw will be much easier for box work! (with an incra set up of course)

It's already sold, apart from the Superjaws which are a great tool. And no money does not grow on trees around here. I work for what I get and can recognise crap when I see it / use it.

Bairnsdale Electrics have them 0351523201 along with a full compliment of Triton workcentre parts and accessories.they ship Australia wide and while stock supply is a little slow they are getting the bits through.

There is a sh*t load of brand new Triton routers (2400w & 1400w ) as well as the template guide kits listed on Ebay AUSTRALIA at the moment, no reserve worth a look !! I 'll pass this info on now , as i've got mine picked it up cheap ! you probably want to get in before every Tom, Dick and Harry find out and send the prices through the roof !
