The finger jointer originally came with a stepped bit, as shown in the picture below:

Thanks for your help here. One did come with the original packaging but it has unfortunately become damaged. I will get onto the website you suggest. I note they are in the UK - have you had any experience with their delivery operations to Australia (assuming you are in Australia!!). Cheers

No worries! I used to demonstrate and troubleshoot for Triton in the UK and when their Caerphilly (Wales) base closed down, the stock was then distributed by a company in Yeovil (UK) called Silverline Tools. Whilst there are a few other firms that advertise Triton spares service, the very best is now - and has been since inception - ToolSparesOnline - Tool spares for Triton, GMC and Silverline Tools<ahref="www.toolsparesonline.com">

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the info.. I also had an excellent report from a Aussie member about their overseas service and deliveries and have now placed an order. I have always envied those guys who get paid to play with and demonstrate the Triton Tools.. Must have been a good job!!

that bit looks a lot like one of Carb-i-tool's slot mortice bits -- part numbers TSM 1408M, TSM 1409.5M, TSM 1413M

Bevan I got an additional one of these when my finger jointer had a missing part. In those days they sent the whole part pack to you from Hills industries.

It was mostly good. I had a panel van at the time which I fitted out to be able to carry all the Triton gear - and in the old days, there was a lot! - to and from woodworking shows or salesrooms. Most of the venues were in places where you could back the van up and unload onto a trolley, cart, whatever, but some venues either didn't have anywhere close by to unload, had no trolley, or were up flights of stairs!

I developed a certain order in my demonstrations after I discovered that one or two products were not that clever - the planer and the jigsaw attachments were notorious - but the rest were fine. I particularly liked the extension tables and their ability to handle full sheets of stock. The adjustable bevel attachment was OK with light or small stock, anything larger - forget it!

My favourite tools were - and still are - the routers. The looks on people's faces when they saw the features of the TRA001 or MOF001 actually in use was really satisfying. The most effective bit of the under-table rig I had was to get someone to wind the router upwards, then remove the plunge spring and repeat. A random stranger's comments can sometimes be so much more effective than a practised spiel, especially when others want to try for themselves afterwards.

The above-the-table bit-changing was a winner every time and is still my favourite feature.
