Thread: Triton Manuals

A little slow but worked first time. I've got Windows XP and it just worked.

Thank Grunt ... the files don't sit on my ISP's systems, but on mine, behind a 512/128 ADSL link and firewall etc ... hence the speed ... but at least they are on-line and more readily available (and I'm not forever mailing manuals!!!!)

Hmmmmm....... I get no connection. message syas a connection with the server could not be established. (I have XP, cable)

Hi Burn,

An hour ago I had Windows XP and couldn't connect to my service provider #@#!# etc. Then in walks a friend with a Linux [knoppix] CD. Put into the CD drive and reboot. 5 minutes later back on the net!!! An hour later, browsing the Woodwork Forums and downloading the Triton Manual for Sliding Extension Table. The reason for all of the above ... to tell you that the FTP service works well under Linux also.

Thank you for the rest of us Tritoneers, who lose things occasionally.

This ftp server is a learning exercise for me, so I hope people bare with me. I'll try and find out why connections couldn't be made (see if there are log files laying about somewhere). All I can say is if the connection times out, try again a little later. If it does consistently, then e-mail me at [email protected] .... this messgae is for future readers of this forum as well as current.

Quite fast too. Probably depends on traffic.

I think it's very kind of you and your club to make the manual available to all...

When I tried the link, I have got an error saying
"Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access to the folder.
Details:
The operation timed out."

I am using Windows 2000 and IE 6

Peoples,

At Stuart's suggestion, I am reducing the size of the pdf files by rescanning some of the manuals (the large ones). So far the saving is about 50% without any apparent loss of resolution.

I'm also zip'ing some of the sub-directories which hold the pages for some of the manuals. That way you can just download one file rather than each individual page . You do have to un-zip them once it's on your computer and you end up with the individual pages again. If you don't know what zip files are, then I suppose this doesn't help you.

The README.txt file will have the details of the changes.

I will be doing these changes late tonight or tomorrow. I will post a message once the changes have taken place.

You can change the amount of compression in Acrobat to get a smaller file. No need to rescan the files.

I only have Adobe's reader program (for Linux). So, unless someone can tell me how (with acroread), I will just rescan the manuals. All I need to do now is the MK3 Workcentre and the Slide Chassis Upgrade Kit.

Before midnight tonight I will put the new files I mentioned onto ftp://swtf.dyndns.org/pub/triton/manuals
but the smaller MK3 Workcentre and Slide Chassis Upgrade Kit will have to wait till I can get hold of the manuals.

You would need the full Acrobat proggie to do as I suggested. :eek:

Well, thanks to Sprog the manual sizes are much smaller, so less downloading time!!

Again, thanks to Sprog, some of the manuals which had individual pages are also available in a single PDF file.

Anyway, see the file README.txt on the server for details.
