Default Triton Mk 3 Workcentre & Extension

    A heads up .....

Planning in selling my Triton Workcentre & another Large (fancy) Wooden Workbench soon, neither of which I am using except as flat surface to put things on. I love flat surfaces, they invite me.

My little-used Triton MK3 Workcentre + Extension & Router attachment will be posted for sale soon. Just need to dust it off and photograph it. Great unit as its had hardly any use maybe used 5-6 times so is in as new condition except for one cut (I am to embarrassed to admit). Expect a price based on a few I have seen on eBay sold for around $250.

The MkIII was Triton’s first properly designed and manufactured workcentre that did exactly what it said on the tin. They invested a lot of cash into this item and it sold really well, including overseas.

The 2000 series was the final update and incorporated many lessons learnt and little improvements, things like the multiple storage points for all the extras, the little pressure finger on the protractor to aid ripping and the fence which includes a 45 degree angle and can be used on either side of the blade.

The 2000 series is definately the “best”, but only for a given value of “better”. I find it much more sturdy and user friendly and I definately prefer the fence, but you’ll struggle to get a good one for under $500. However the MkIII has pretty much everything the later model does, just sometimes not as easily. One thing that only the MkIII has is an extension table. Because it’s an older design they sell more cheaply and it’s harder to get one thats relatively unused.

Either unit will do the job. I prefer the 2000 series for the majority of my work but wanted a MkIII set up exclusively in the overhead mode. I was using my neighbours MkIII whenever I needed it and kept an eye out for a cheap one. As it turns out another forum member gave me a 2nd 2000 series that was missing a lot of very important bits, but happily I could donate everything it needed for overhead work from my other workcentre.

Thanks for that Chief - Really informative! (ignore the picture request, i had some lag while clicking)

so given I'll likely only use it for occasional use here and there :
ripping, routing, panel cross cuts, a mitre every once in a while

and it will likely need to be packed up for storage during downtime (no shed and 2 car garage has 2 cars in it) either unit will do the job for me, and i should just look for one in good condition....

Hey Euge, let me know once yours is on the market

    Hi dcarbonetti,

its available now just haven't had time to remove stuff stacked on it or dust it off and photograph it.
Its as I described ie almost unused. It would be a pick-up from Warragul. PM me if you want to know more or see it.

Before you buy a 2000, check to see if the table is dead flat with a straight edge and is not dipped in the middle.

The one I purchased had such a problem, dipped 3mm in the middle, gave it away and bought a Jet table saw instead.

I am posting my Mark 3 (New Series) for sale shortly. It has a flat saw bend ... just checked.

PS: Cant find the extension table though... maybe I never had one!
Price based on eBay sales of similar or same.
