Hard to tell Brett until I get my hands on the Triton Router and check it out properly. The feedback from Stu is appreciated.

Hi all. Here's the update on fitting the new model TRA001 to the Woodpecker Unilift.

All went to plan with no issues encountered during the installation.

As per Stuart's recommendations: using the micro height adjuster to lock the collet shaft works extremely well.

IMO.The combined benefits of fitting the TRA001 to the Woodpecker Unilift is a very worthwhile consideration.

Steps required to install/remove the router bit on the TRA001 that's fitted to a Woodpecker Unilift.

1/. Release the unilft lift height adjustment brake.

2/. Raise the unilift to its full upward height.

3/. Release the router plunge unlock.

4/. Rotate the router micro height adjustment in the upward direction until collet shaft locks fully. (top of collet is about a 1mm below the top surface of the router table).

    5/. Install the router bit.

6/. Rotate the router micro adjustment in the downward direction until the locking window on the ON/OFF switch slides open allowing the router power switch to be
turned ON. ( At this point the top of the router collet was measured at 8mm below the top surface of the router table.) That is about the maximum height I was able to achieve with the previous router installed on the unilift.

6/. Retighten the router plunge lock.

7/. Retighten the unilft height adjustment brake before switching the router power switch to the ON position.

Note: Built in interlocks on the new model TRA001 should prevent the router from ever starting up during router bit installation . To be totally safe, always insure the power supply has been disconnected from the router.

    regards; Stewie.

A good result Stewie. Sounds like there must be plenty of room for the above table bit change (i.e. the Unilift plate isn't too thick)..

Yes Brett. A great addition to my router table set up.

Dammit. This month I was hoping to buy a Laguna super dooper fence.

Now the Unilift is on the agenda. Where did you obtain it? I looked at woodworksupplies and it's all ancient history! No price...stuff from 5 years ago....not maintained...

Stewie, any chance of a pic?

Hi Evanism. I purchased my unilift off ebay 12 months ago. It was not brand new. I suggest you keep an eye on ebay; or post a wanted to buy on this woodwork forum. Other than that I grave doubts you can purchase these anywhere within Aust. brand new. Oversea's purchase is another option but the postal costs would be extremely high. The Woodpecker Unilifts are extremely robust in their design, so I would not be overly put off if you come across one that up to 5 years old.

Can do with a few pics.

You can't buy a Unilift except second hand. They are no longer made.
Woodpeckers did a special manufacturing run a couple of years ago to satisfy demand from Australia and England but I don't think there will be any more made. The new Jessem lift, linked earlier looks very similar.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Its certainly an option to look at. You would need to do your homework to insure the router being fitted is going to be compatable with both mounting plates.

Yes very true. The jessem has 4 from memory that are supported predrilled but you can also get blank plate to drill your own. When I asked about tra locking mechanism they (pws) had no answer. But I suppose the details listed above would work just as well with the jessem kit

I recently bought (to be perfectly correct my wife (bless her)) the TRA001 in a dyco router table. It was mounted using a couple of screws and clamps on the base. It cost $200 all up.

I bought the Router Raizer for $114 shipped and then used the template to drill and countersink a pair of 1/4" holes in the table to properly mount the router. I have to reach under for the switch and lock if needed but that is pretty easily done. Adjustment is above the table thanks to the Router Raizr. I am really pleased with the whole unit.
