Default Triton TSA001-235mm Precision Power Saw - repair/replace enclosure or buy a new saw?

    Triton TSA001-235mm (9 /14") Precision Power Saw
    - repair/replace enclosure or buy a new saw?

Met another Triton user over the weekend.

    Trading bits n pieces.

    English being his second language.
Having a Triton related discussion as best we could communicate.

He mentioned be couldn't get accurate cuts.

Since I had just spent 5+ hours sorting my Triton table saw accuracy
I was happy to discuss but not actually touch.
Thinking he was about to ask me to set his table up.

He pulled his Triton Power saw (unplugged of course) and showed me how bad it wobbled.

We went over blade height locking mechanism.
    All secure.

Then the front and back bevel locking screws etc. But all looked ok.

I had my nose down close to the blade angle trimmer when he picked the saw up and I could see the front of the housing lift up away from the base plate.

On even closer inspection we found a break in the housing just behind the blade angle trimmer.

Confessing he didn't have the skills necessary to find help on the internet he didn't hesitate to ask me for further assistance.

Anyone know if he can get away with some sort of industrial glue or welding or replace just the housing or will he have to replace the whole saw?

    Thanks in advance.

Looks like a saw replacement to me. The alloy looks to contain a fair proportion of zinc which is an utter pig to weld.

There is a product which acts as a form of solder which purports to be suitable for joining broken castings; it's been advertised as suitable for repairing classic Japanese motorcycle engine parts which are very zinc rich so it might be suitable; however it's not something I've ever actually used.

You should post this on the Metalworkers Forum too;,you'd get more hits that way and possibly an offer from a member nearby; stranger things have happened.

As a possible alternative; providing that the angle adjustment is never, ever used again you could bog up the broken assembly with Devcon plastic metal or similar product. Use LOTS.

    Wow!
    Can't believe the support gents!
    Much appreciated.

    Hi Lappa,
Was just adding up the cost and shipping for that one.
And chasing up authorised repair shops.

    Hi Chief,
Thanks heaps for all those suggestions.
    Thanks,

I would think that there are plenty of burnt out saws that could be obtained cheep.
