Thread: Triton Workcentre 2000 assembly woes

I just measured the distance of the legs on my 2000 unit, which is the same as yours.

The distance of the feet in length is approximately 131cm the width of the legs is 60cm approximately.

If you get those measurements correct, then the ends where the switch goes Et cetera, should be vertical on the flat area.

The lower yellow beams you have already in place, are the same length as the small longitudinal aluminium bars you are trying to fit, around 930mm give or take, according to my unit.

Although my unit looks as though it has splayed out ends, they are vertical, it's just the camera angle; note the shelving in the background, which is vertical, has the same angle.

You could be right about a typo, but I can not get to it to check at the moment as it is parked in. I could reach the saw table and that is 900mm. (The stand is set up for routing at this time) My unit is an early WCA2000.

The frame doesn't seem square at all by the first photo. The ends appear to keystone (wider at the top than the bottom)

The brackets attaching the legs and rails in the pic in the first post don't look the same as the pic in post #17. Are the rails installed into those brackets correctly? If they were fitted and aligned such that the overlap is square on the rail, it looks like the keystoned ends would close up somewhat.

Definitely A mistake, typo, seniors moment the whole tooty, this morning they measure 930mm.

My WC2000 and the instruction manual are currently in storage so cannot look at them.
If I remember correctly, the instructions said not to tighten anything right up until everything was in place.

I would loosen off the nuts on the bottom rails so you can square the end panels up, this should then allow for correct distance for the top rails. Also note the fence is not sitting in the correct position (as the rest is not set up correctly) the top of the orange arms will slide in to be flush with the surface of the table top and this will allow the fence to be locked into position.

The ends of the workcentre should be parallel, yours are on an angle to each other.
I suggest loosening the four bolts on the lower rail to see if the end panels can be pulled together to be parallel to each other.
I have been in engineering for a long time and would never tighten bolts in an assembly until all bolts are fitted in their respective locations.

Thanks for the many tips. Just got back from holidays so I'm cranking up the assembly effort again on the weekend. On inspection, it doesnt seem as square as it should be so hopefully some oushing and grunting mught help.

SUCCESS! I'M SHOUTING MYSELF A BEER! I was too focussed on the legs and bearers. I forced the issue by trying to assemble the bearing channel correctly - after I had loosened all the other bolts - with a lot of intense pushing, grunting and swearing; and got them in. The rest is falling into place. I'm a very happy man!
