Yes, it is a discussion forum about the Triton WX7, about it's merit and usefulness etc. But not a thread about local price whinging compared to overseas prices.
Whinging about prices will only get the thread closed as the Moderators had to do twice now in a few days about Festool.
Peter.

How can you not consider affordability when discussing the merit of a product?

It's not just local to overseas, the local price of Triton routers has nearly doubled in 6 months and their other products are trending the same way.

My last comments on the subject (I can hear applause)
- Stating fact is not whinging
Fact - Triton prices went up near on 50% overnight
Fact - retailers I have spoken to had no idea this was going to happen
Fact - retailers I have spoken to are copping the stacks of queries on why the price hike?
Fact - some retailers are now considering not carrying the Triton range because of the new pricing and other issues.
Observation - the price hike seems to be in OZ only looking at current U.K. and USA prices
Fact - there are queries from people on this forum who want to buy Triton equipment asking why the price hike.

Just purchased MOF 001 router and 1/2 inch collet from Amazon UK for $A 316 delivered together with Router table module TWX RT 001 for $A361 delivered to Australia. I am willing to change plug to AUS plug and take my chances on warranty claims. Both Amazon UK and Amazon US will not ship the Universal stand to Aus so I will build my own to accept the router table module. Affordability is a factor and concern in all our purchasing decisions and I would prefer to give my money to the Australian distributors but not when there is such a large disparity.

Yes Michael, I should have included that option as well but thought that was self evident.
It is a logical option available to all those people complaining on this forum about the pricing policies of any company.
In other words "vote with your wallet (or credit card)"

Just noticed on the Carbatec site a siginificant price reduction available till tomorrow. Router MOF001 down from $623 to $469, TRA001 down from $635 to $515 and JOF001 down from $519 to $229. I would hope that this reduction might be related to recent posts on this site.

Looked at the wx7 at Carbatec, I have to say I'm not really convinced by it. I think it would have been more convincing if they had gone the same way as Festool did with the MFT/3 and CMS extension. This way, the work table is always there, acting as additional support for rip cuts. The Festool crosscut setup on the MFT is excellent, and Triton could have done similar with their own track saw. That they haven't is surprising. I'm sure in time it will develop as a system, but it's not quite the right starting point for my liking.

Carbatec have a special on the WX7 until 31st Jan, buy all 3 parts (stand, router table, contractor saw) and save 10%. Brings the total price down to $2062. Still too rich for my blood, but might be of interest to someone here.

I saw the Triton WX7 Router Table set-up in Carbatec, Sydney, last week. Looks very impressive.
