Thread: What's the size of the Trition biscuit slot cutter?

Before I bought my Makita biscuit machine I used a 4mm cutter in my router. It worked fine and had no problems.

Bear in mind that "real biscuits" are designed to swell with the glue and will fill the 4mm slot perfectly. As "real biscuits" as opposed to bits of wood cut in a biscuit size are actually compressed and designed to swell - for this reason they should be kept in an airtight container as they will absorb moisture from the air and swell enough to cause problems when inserted in a correct sized slot. I have heard of people putting them into a microwave oven to drive out any moisture but have never done it and can't see how an expanded biscuit would come back in size - I could be wrong but others who have tried it may chime in.

I just went into my garage and measured a couple of my Triton slot cutters.

They are 47.8mm dia by 4mm thick and the bore hole size is 8mm, could be a bit of wear and tear to reduce the size a tad on my ones, as they have been worked.

A quick check of the Carba-Tech catalogue on my desk alongside the computer tells me that they have slot cutter blades without arbour that are virtually identical for $22.00. Correction, $25.00 old catalogue.

Part number 822-340-11 47.6mm dia by 4mm thick and a bore size of 8mm.

Thanks guys. The cutter and arbor is almost half the price of a cheapy biscuit joiner! If the Aldi one doesn't come about soon I might have to spring for it.

Umm, unles I'm thinking wrongly, you would only require the slot cutter. It will bolt directly onto your existing arbour from the Triton unit.
