I've just bought a second hand 'Workcentre 2000' and am finding the set up a bit of a challenge.
Although it has 2000 printed on the front the slide chassis is the same as the MK3 (maybe is was an early version) so after downloading and flicking between the manuals for both series I'm stuck on how I can lock the sliding saw chassis to the table top.
The chassis has a catch on both ends as does the underside of the table - it looks to me as though either the chassis or the top should have some sort of lug to slot into the catch. Is something missing?
Any advice would be most welcome.

I think we need some wider angle shots so we can see what you have.

Here is a picture from an early version of the manual - do you recognise the latch?

Hi Heuston,
There should be a red plastic piece in the slot on one end of the chassis.

Here's a picture of the chassis that replaced the original - perhaps this is the one you have. New ones are now pressed metal and orange.

If you have one of these you should seriously consider also getting the height winder kit to go with it. They make adjustments to blade height so much easier.

The MK3 table top has a lug that projects down to fit into the "loop" on the end of the saw chassis. That certainly looks like a MK3 chassis.

Little Red Clip
Hi,
I did not be leave it, but you are all correct the instructions do not show it. So out with the camera, lucky I did not have to strip my machine as I have upgraded, so as to fit the hight winder.
Hope that helps.
RegardsHugh

Ok Heuston, it appears as if you have a problem, in that you have an early model chassis that requires the red latch hook shown in A Duke's picture.
Someone who has upgraded to a height winder chassis may be prepared to donate this latch hook.
Alternatively, I note that there are a couple of saw chassis upgrade kits going on eBay. One of these would give you the possiblity of also upgrading to a height winder.
regards

Re: Workcentre setup help
Thanks so much for your help - it had me stumped.
Seems that little bit of red plastic I'm missing is pretty important, and looks like i'm out of luck with Triton stocking any spares (probably fair enough given its age).
On the upside I might now have an excuse to upgrade the chassis and fit a height winder?

Maybe a bolt and nut the right length in the chassis wold work. It would need to project up just enough to go in the hole in the top. you would need to line up the chassis and then lower the top. Once done., lift the top and a texta mark on the chassis and side rail to re-align next time. The only "function" you lose on is the ability to have teh chassis near enough and then push back to "lock" in place.

Thanks bpj1968 - that seems like a pretty decent work around if i cant source the missing part - not sure if carbatec will stock an old part like that but i'll give them a try.
For anyone interested - after a bit of searching I found the said part is appears to be a 'WCA266 Saw Slide Chassis Nylon Catch' - according to this schematic anyway:

We are dealing with a 2000, not a Mark 3.

My photos (post 7) are definitely the original 2000 before the bent tin update.
