1878-88 Disston Medallion and screw set. Free to a good home.
As I pass in and out of these forums I have encountered some most generous offers of assistance, both in expertise and in spare parts, some to me and some to other folk.
Given that I have little prospect of paying these people back, we'll go the pay it forward route.
Rare might be too strong a word, but this medallion is certainly not common. Older style heavy medallion, which is fully or partially countersunk into the handle.
My memory is dim, but I think this set came from a full size panel saw, with nib, handle not "let in" to the plate. Handle and plate were both beyond salvation.
Anyhoo. All you have to do to own them is to make the statement that you are restoring a saw for which this is the appropriate medallion, and pay the postage.
Photos would be nice so we can all to share in your project, and drool a bit...

(Bump.) It's very nice of you ... I'm sure people have been looking for these before!

Goodvibes
I refrained from putting my hand up before as I thought somebody might have a saw that needed that particular medallion, but if nobody else is interested I just love those sunken medallions. I am quite OK if you would like to give it some more time. I would probably use it for a "replica." I do not put ancient medallions on saws to "enhance" them or deceive collectors.

Yours.
Very fitting too, given you are one of the helpful people I referred to in the title post.
I might ask you for a favor that's within your power to fulfill one day. If I don't, somebody else will.
PM me your address and we'll get it happening.

I was looking at the medallion set today and something clicked in my bird brain. I don't think there is any lasting damage.
I believe this set came of a 26" crosscut D8. This slightly flies in the face of Goodvibes original thoughts as of course the D8 was the first skewback and they don't have nibs. However the reason I am saying this is that one of the saw screws is smaller than the others. I don't believe this is a mistake or a mix up. The D8s before 1928 seemed to have the top saw screw the smaller size that was used on panel saws. After 1928 all the standard screws were the same size. The thumbhole saws also only seemed to sport the larger screws.
I checked my supplies and this was the case. Thumbholes and later D-8s had the four screws the same size (and a much less attractive medallion as time went on). I quickly searched Ebay to see if I could support my statement.

I don't think the D100s followed this practice. The ACME120s I am not sure about as I don't have any.
I am quite willing to be shot down on this one, but as a special request could it be done over water during the summer months?
Thanks for the set Goodvibes. I love them.
