    Default 2 cherries chisels

Afew weeks ago i went down to the perth wood school to check out their shop and left with a nice set of reasonably priced kirchen chisels. The first thing that stands out is the highly pollished steel which is not unlike a mirror.Michael who showed them to me
said he had been to their factory and was shown how each chisel is tempered the whole way up the steel to where the handle is fitted. The label on the handle is a sticker not painted.I put the 10 and 20 mill chisels to use yesterday for about 2 hours and yes i will need to rehone before i next use them but they worked brilliantly. The factory bevel is razor sharp as you might expect.

I got a set of those a few years back and I was surprised by the degree of polish on them. Way more than is required but they are good steel. The backs were almost flat and only took a few minites on the stone to hone. Some on here have pointed out that the polishing rounds off the corners and I guess it does a bit but at my level of wood butchering they work ok. Reasonable value also. The only downside I have found is when I get them out everything else in the shed looks daggy.

    Regards
    John

They look perfect for a death-defying circus act involving a big target, a bikini and a blindfold.

That's way too descriptive for a Monday Paul.
