Bessey K-body clamps
Lee Valley presently have a special promotion on for K-body clamps until January 29th. I just ordered a set and thought others on this forum might also be interested. Check it out at http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.a...t=1,44047&ap=1

G'day Rev,
Have you gotten any indication of what the freight costs will be ? I've been looking around for Plano clamps ex-US, one vendor has quoted Fedex as the carrier and the rates are horrendous........
Cheers,
Justin.

I made an equiry last month re 4 x 50" K clamps. Freight was quoted as USD189.54 via UPS Express. Any item over 1 metre (39.37") can not be delivered by post. My clamps are being brought home now by my daughter who is returning to Aus after living in the US.

I was in Carbatec in Sydney on Friday, they have them.
I didn't check the price though as I figured I couldn't afford them.

I contacted Lee Valley for a quote on shipping. (Before I got my Xmas credit card statements - ouch! )
Here it is:
Thank you for your email. Please see the table below for the shipping options available, price (also in USD) and expected delivery times for 2 of the clamp sets:
*Surface Mail 8-12 Weeks $ 94.09
*Xpresspost 8-10 Days $ 238.61
*UPS Express 5-6 Days to Major Centers $ 271.43
Please see the table below for the shipping options available, price (also in USD) and expected delivery times for 3 of the clamp sets:
*Surface Mail 8-12 Weeks $ 158.06
*Xpresspost 8-10 Days $ 381.23
*UPS Express 5-6 Days to Major Centers $ 396.13
**not too bad, all considered, and remember you are also getting a set of 'KP blocks' in each lot - worth about $25US a set, and I haven't found anyone selling these locally. There is a Distributor in Sydney - Hordern Bros or something similar - only sell to retailers.

I'm only ordering one "type B" set (plus a few other small items). I requested the least expensive shipping via USPS
In their receipt with the order number Valley say: The shipping address for your order is outside of Canada and the United States. We will contact you once we have calculated the shipping charge for your area. Therefore, your order total does not reflect the price of shipping at this time. You will be notified of these charges by e-mail and have the opportunity to either proceed with or cancel your order.
Can't get fairer than that! If the shipping cost is outrageous and makes the exercise unworthwhile, I'll cancel.
Cheers

I'd be happy to be a part of big shipment by a group from this forum and then distribute them locally if someone wants to take this on.

Again terrific service
I'd be happy to organise a group shipment - I work in Sydney and live on the Central Coast, so can distribute for most of the NSW people. The company I work for has very good shipping facilities & local shipping costs, so I can organise a batch for Victoria etc. out of a single shipment.
So maybe ship a single order into Sydney then out of that a shipment down to Rev to distribute for our Mexican cousins?
So who's interested and in how many (assuming the freight comes down to a reasonable price of course)? The Australian Woodworkers Database - over 3,500 Aussie Woods listed: http://www.aussiewoods.info/

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works - but a large quantity might be subject to Customs duties.

I would be interested in a bulk buy for sure. 1 "B" package for me. We might not get away with it, but if the box is labelled "gift" then its not subject to duties. Not so sure about a big box though

1 x 'B' Pack for me - assuming the freight comes out at a reasonable figure.
Would there be duty on these or has duty been replaced by GST?
