    Default Blackapple toolworks?

    Anyone heard of Blackapple toolworks?

They're local, and say they're going to start producing cast iron and wooden planes. I'd be curious if anyone has the inside goss and knows about quality, price points, etc.

    Hi Gonty
They have been selling the handles and totes on ebay for some time but that's the limit of my knowledge sorry.

I purchased a handle and tote for an old Stanley 7 I am refurbishing from Blackapple toolworks. The items I received are well made and suit the plane perfectly. This has been their primary product for a while I believe.

I have heard that they were planning on expending their business into making planes and/or other tools, however I haven't seen anything new on their website with regards to this for some time.

I would certainly recommend their handles and totes.

Same here.. I picked up a jarrah set from ebay just to see how they do them. Lovely, no complaints.

I noticed that they were trying out a few custom totes with finger grips and in odd timbers.. I don't think auctioned well which is a shame.... I thought they looked pretty cool.

Can't shed any light on the upcoming tools.. I'm sure cards are being held close to the chest. I for one can't wait.

Maybe Mr/Mrs blackapple could flick us a teaser?.. I'm sure they have at least a lurkers account here
    Best regards, Luban

Certainly room for another plane maker, if the price and quality are both right.

    Gday,
We are a small business currently producing reproduction handles for stanley planes as well as shipwrights caulking mallets and carving mallets.
We've started to experiment with some castings and all things being equal will be offering at least replacement older style stanley lever caps within this year.....
We will be updating our website in the near future to include our caulking mallets and the pistol grip handles mentioned in this thread plus some other goodies.
New to this forum and would love some more feedback on what we're trying to do( and support if you need handles!)

Thanks everyone for your responses to my original question and to Blackapple for the info straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

Will have to have a look at your handles now, having just bought myself a handle-free Stanley no 7.
