Default Bunnings Special - Marples Chisels - $10

Not sure if this is Australia wide (our store is moving up the road so they may be liquidating stock not moving) but if it is...

The 5 pack of Irwin Marples is going for $10. I know they are not "good marples" but if you are new to the game, like me, a 5 pack of chisels for $10 is not to be sneezed at.

I grabbed a pack as they are normally $40 and $2 a chisel is just too good a deal to walk past for me.

Any chance of a photo of the pack, or the model number so we can Google them? I could do with some more to turn into specialists like skews...

Peter Sellers spoke highly of these if they are the same chisels and also he gave the Aldi brand a good rap as well.

I've a set of Marples that came chucked in with another purchase some time ago - they are really bloody good chisels.

They get an incredible edge on them. Very sharp and easy to sharpen.

Sounds like a bargain. Grab 20 and sell them here or GT.

I have got a set of English made Marples I bought 35 years ago and are fantastic. I don’t think the current ones would be in that league though but still a great buy.

    Sorry for the late reply.

Well I could not find them listed on the bunnings site anymore and I used to have them in my wish list. So I reckon they are discontinued, hence the price.

That is the set, or damn close to it. I will try to remember to take a pic or get the exact model number tonight. They are called cabinet maker chisels or something like that.

There was one left when I was there Saturday and I just dropped in after golf to grab a few bits. I always wonder down to the clamp section in our store to see if there is any special and on the way out of there these chisels have been in their "special" area for some time. Not discounted or anything. I glanced down to where they are...and saw the $10 sign. I nearly took out 2-3 poor shopper as turned direction and lunged at them. I doubt they would last long.

When I got to the front desk the check out guy looked them over when he saw the price ring up. Worth a look if they are still there.

Damn ..... I read this yesterday, and was in Bunnings this morning. Do you think I remembered to check when I was there? [emoji1532]

Also forgot about the blue painters tape which was the reason I was going. I need to keep on top of my Bunnings shopping list on my phone.

Just as well I never saw them as more chisels would mean that I may have a hoarding disorder. Dont talk about planes either.

have not opened them yet as I am in the process of getting some old chisels ready for use. Will open them and get them ready for the weekend though. Got a few things I want to do
