CMT mortise chisels
Did anyone else see the article in a "recent American woodwork magazine" (code for a senior's moment when I can't remember the title!) for CMT hollow mortise chisels? I am tired of wearing out Taiwanese chisels and those from the Democratic Republic of Calithumpia so I decided to chase them up. Well ...
Plan A, Carbatec have advised me that they don't intend to bring them in but they would like to see one if I bought it in.
Plan B, contacted CMT Italy (home base) and they advised that they would only be available from (in?) CMT USA
Plan C, tried to contact CMT USA and the (ever-conscious-of-export-Americans ... not!) made it difficult to find a supplier until I typed in what American State I lived in
... back to Calithumpia!
cheers, Fletty

Follow through with plan A ....
"Plan A, Carbatec have advised me that they don't intend to bring them in but they would like to see one if I bought it in."
When you import it call them and let them know that you have it and you will drop in and show them one day ..... then never drop in.Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

Of course if you are really keen to get them, then either
1) e-mail CMT USA and ask who sells the things on-line...
OR
2) input the state code for the state of your favo(u)rite US based on-line supplier into their search page & see if they come up.

Start at CMT USA
www.cmtusa.com
then in their dealer locator click on the link just above the entry boxes for finding a dealer in a US city or state or zipcode - you see
If you can't find a source for CMT products near you or, you prefer to shop by mail order or the internet, select the link below.
CMT mail order/internet sources
http://www.cmtusa.com/store/searchde...=internetstars
Lots of internet sites. Be sure to check that they ship internationally thou ... for example SOMMERFELD'S TOOLS have the mortise chisels you are after but they don't ship internationally.
You can do all this whilst waiting for a response from CMT USA asking for a dealer who does internet sales and will ship internationally.

Or you could try another Australian based company and see if they will get them in for you... like Timbecon perhaps?

My opinion is neither copyrighted nor trademarked, and its price is competitive. If you like, I'll trade for one of yours.

Thanx guys, that's enough leads to keep me off the streets tonight, will let you know how I go and, ultimately, whether the chisels were worth the effort ... I like everything else I've got from CMT.
