B.S.V.Co
Good morning,
Does anyone have any knowledge of B.S.V.Co? I've got a spoke pointer and a chain drill branded thus. In addition the chain drill has CLEVE. O. which I take to be Cleveland Ohio.
All help appreciated.
Cheers,
Geoff.

Doing a bit of hunting yesterday and found a US seller with one listed as the "B-something Saw Vice Co". Now just sit back and wait for one of you hand saw aficionados to come up with the name.
Cheers,
Geoff.

Thanks Hiroller,
I wondered about the significance of "Buckeye" in the company name, because there are a number of Buckeye companies in Ohio. My thesaurus tells me Ohio is "the Buckeye State" and the tree Aesculus glabra is called the Ohio Buckeye so named because the seed resembles a buck's eye.
It doesn't take a brace tool collector long to learn that if a tool he's researching has "saw" in the title that's got to raise the interest of others by 500%.
That's a great outcome and two more tools that can be correctly labelled.
Cheers,
Geoff.

The owner of the B.S.V.Co would appear to be John W. Gaede, and operated I believe from about 1902 to 1932. Mr Gaede was granted a number of US patents: 713423- 1902 -Saw Vise, 964417- 191- Saw Set, 1221436 - 1917 - Plane, and 2180899 - 1939 - Saw Set.
Cheers,
Geoff.
