Tom,
I have a couple dowel pointers, and I think I have a rounder as well ( makes a dome) by Stanley and a Preston with square tangs, but that pencil sharpener would do the spokes pointing on a pretty small wheel
A model stagecoach perhaps?
They all cut the same way.
I've seen some spoke pointers around the tool sale tables, but never felt the urge to purchase one.
Regards,
Peter

OK my turn.
This will be so easy so you have to get the reason for the odd one out.
If you pick the plane but the wrong reason, I will say "not what I was thinking"
There are plenty of clues in the picture to help you.
Good luck

Well, it has to be the King or Queen...
8 pawns
2 rooks
2 knights
2 bishops
only 1 king and 1 queen.
So they don't have any matches...<Insert witty remark here>

Further, it is the only plane pictured, designed to cut across the grain.
All the rest are used with, or at a skew to the grain.

OK maybe time for a clue.
Think of the planes as chess pieces.
Cheers
