    Default Corner chisel = Buzz?

    Hello,
At work I have recently been told that in the wheelwrighting trade the corner chisel is widely called a buzz, or sometimes brez. I have never heard that term before, maybe French origins? Has anyone heard that before?

    Cheers

    Andy,
    its a Bruzz.
Here is a page from the 1889 Mathieson catalogue.
The wheelwright ones I have are less than 90 degrees, when they are 90 degrees, I believe they are usually referred to as corner chisel.
However the index in the catalogue points to a corner chisel - bruzz on this page....but the words corner chisel don't appear on the page.
So I guess a Bruzz might be a special kind of corner chisel.
Don't know the origin of the term though??

'Bruz' - various spellings - is probably an English dialect word - we speak 'Oxford' English today, but there are numerous dialects surviving despite the best efforts of the BBC - Scouse, Cockney, Yorkshire etc all turn up from time to time in TV and movies.
