Gifkins Pocket Square modification
Gday all
I bought a small Gifkins Pocket Square at the TWW show a couple of years ago, to those not familiar it is a precision square cut out of 5mm phenolic, roughly 125mm long by 80mm high. Made by the makers of the well known Gifkins dovetail jig.
My square gets used regularly for checking other squares, joints, glue ups or whatever.
The only limitation I find with it is that I am sometimes wanting for a small fence so it can be used similarly to a conventional try square.
While roaming in bunnings I came across these Johnson brass stair gauges, which are designed to clamp onto a framing square, but are a precision fit on the Pocket Square!
I had been intending to buy some for years, just b'cos I needed them , and here was an excellent excu... reason.
Cost - less that $15. Nice snug fit, and easy to remove if needed.
I don't have the bigger Gifkins square (yet... ) but I think it was the same thickness as the smaller one.
Here's some piccies.
Cheers.................Sean, all squared away
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
