I see you were so excited that replied to your own thread.

At least you waited for a few minutes before replying.

It is an excellent feeling when you get a new tool. May the joy last a long time.

Default HNT Gordon Smoother n Try Plane making Short work of Bloody Hard River Redgum

Well time to put erm to work ................ tool Porns over!

These bad boys are about to become the Workhorses of my Crammed Garage

    Do they deliver Bloody Oath!

Just made Short work of a Narly River Red Gum Slab..............The Flame pattern up the guts is cranky Interlocking Grain (Hoping it glistens once finished though)

The HNT Gordon Smoother N Try lapped it up! Took me 5 minutes to remember how to adjust but once the muscle memory kicked in off I went

I had attacked it earlier with the Woodies down the far end...........................BUT no comparison

The New stable mates will be the first in the hand am going to do another RUN on this back side just as a primer for the Show Side (For those wondering is going to be a coffee table)

MMMMMMM tempted to do a little rebate with the filister

Now just got to remember how to Sharpen See PIC (Those who remember will get a chuckle)

But I guess thats another story for the Sharpening Forum

    Enjoy the Day all

    Regards Lou

    Hi Lou

Nice buys. Terry does first class work, and the planes work as well as they look.

One thing I recommend is when setting up the smoother and trying plane, do so on a sheet of glass ...

The glass will not damage the edge of the blade, and it will create the smallest projection. This should be perfect for fine shavings ... remember, it is easier to extend the blade than retract it without losing settings.

    Plane Setting Block

    Regards from Perth

    Default Hey Nice Setup

    Gidday Derek

Appreciate the Shoutout! Yes I love HNT Gordon Tools looks like a Nice Setup kit you've crafted there with your Famous Krenov Handplane ....................... Very Nice Indeed!

I suspect the Glass does a great job unfortunately for me im such a klutz n prone to 'Frank Spencer' moments that invariably id drop it n Smash it! lol

Luckily Ive got a nice bit of Steel Machined dead flat for the job kindly given to me by a machinist from my boily days.

I have used glass in the 'scary sharp' era n it provided an excellent sharpening surface.......................as always lots of doors leading into the same room

I have developed a real love for Ringed Gidgee N hope to somehow nab some for a 'piece' in the future.

Immediately the PLanes are showing their worth .........................Already im getting curious about setting up a wooden trying plane Japanese Style Mmmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder

Great to hear from you ....................always enjoy your contributions!

    Sincerely Lou
