THe Hand Tool Woody Pay it Forward Thread
I'm sure I am not alone.
People here do nice things for other people, and at times they have offered help to me. Not just sharing advice, but even actual giving of things like spare parts at little or no cost.
It can be hard to pay these people back. But there is always a way to pay it forward. Help somebody else.
This would be a good place to offer up help with things you can do without.
I'm going to get the ball rolling with a challenge.
This person from Malaysia is a brand new aspiring woodworker. He is considering paying USD 90 including delivery for this monstrosity.
Stanley 12-004
So the opening challenge.
Has somebody helped you out with no expectation of reward?
Do you have an old school quality No4 around the place you will sell at a fair price?
$125 Aus is the approximate number, including postage.
Can you get it done? I would do it myself but at this moment, somewhat unusually, I do not have a spare 4 of decent quality in my shop.
Be warned. Postage to Malaysia is criminally high. Higher than to England for some strange reason. I estimate $60-70 Aust. Which still leaves room for a fair market price on pretty decent 4.
Get things started, PM the new enthusiast and make an offer.
PS. If you do this, you can tell the wife that you need another plane to replace it. Everyone's a winner.

I am pleased to inform that a member has made an offer of a No 4 at a very generous price to our new Malaysian woodworker.
I hope in due course that we will hear of a successful completion.
Don't be shy guys and gals.
Who's next?
