Funny you should ask as I just emailed Trent a week ago with no response. I'm hoping for a set of Ultimax chisels "soonish"! In the past he has usually replied to my emails fairly quickly so it makes me wonder whether he's on hols, or has a new email address?

I ran into him at the TWWW show. He didn't indicate that he had any reason for being unavailable or that he was not actively working on the bulk order (and my order). Maybe he's just been really busy?
I ordered a set about six or eight weeks ago. I'm not sure why, maybe he was having a good day, but he decided he could squeeze me in.
Sounds like after this he is hanging it up for a while. I feel incredibly lucky to have caught him before he made this decision. Maybe that is why he isn't checking his email much anymore?
Anyway, he truly is an incredibly nice guy and a world class toolmaker. I'm glad I got to meet him face to face.

Trent told me back in Oct 2014 when I ordered a set, that the very long wait times (years) was over and he typically can fill orders with an approx lead time of six months. At the end of the day, the lead time is less relevant. What is of importance is meeting the expectations he sets. If he says five years and you get the chisels in five years. All good. If he says six months and five years goes by, then not good.
I know Trent must be a good guy as many people know him personally and speak very highly of him. Unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of meeting him. But I'm willing to cut him plenty of slack. He said six months to me. It's been seven. I don't mind waiting many months more, but not five years!

Mine were ordered before Trent's health problems, and I have also been overseas several times with work and have not been overly in a rush. I ordered 15 chisels and have all but one) Trent is aware I'm not in a rush, and the time doesn't bother me. It's just when I struggle to get a reply to emails that's gets a bit annoying. Trent does a great job, I would buy any tool he made and sold. He also backs his work (as he should). From all accounts the big waits are over) I think my chisel is a bit different (3/4 pigsticker). Even with a long wait, I would still buy again)

Ordered mine with the group buy in June 2012 - and still waiting.
I am not sure how many of the group buys have been delivered, but I would not be overly optimistic of any newly placed orders being delivered soon.

Far out. I'll be waiting until about 2020 if that's the case. Hope I'm still alive by then!!!!!!!! 😳
