Good idea, but I'm not liking our chances.
I just looked up Harold and Saxon on the ABN Lookup registry and see that his business has been deregistered. Unless he's changed the name of his business, I fear that none of us are going to get our chisels. (Warm Regards, Luckyduck

Ian; as someone who is well aware of the horror's of living with PTSD, I have some real concerns with your post. More importantly, the effect this type of intrusion may have on Trent's ongoing recovery.
regards Stewie;

Stewie
I'm aware of the horrors of PTSD and I'm also aware, from these forums, that in the past Trent has had some very significant health issues.
I saw this news item as a positive light, indicating that Trent was active in his local community and recovering well from his health issues.regards from Alberta, Canada

Call me a cynic.
However. I find something extremely disquieting about a person with years of unfilled but paid for orders in his business being promoted in the local media as the leader of a multi 6 figure government funded program to use the very same skills for the benefit of disadvantaged youth.
One of the things I do is to write applications for government funding for other people. The success depends on the quality of the project, I just add a little extra sauce. If you can't roll out of bed and give people what they already paid for, you can't even brief somebody else to write a grant application.
The smell of this is unsavoury.

By way of update, I tried contacting Trent one last time ... I posted on his Facebook page, I wrote him an email, I texted his mobile phone number, and I even found out the name of the Rotary Club where he is a member and wrote to the Club. I don't know which form of communication got through but he responded. I'm now delighted to say that he has repaid my money. He came across as a very genuine fellow who wanted to make good on his debts. He expressed some concern when I mentioned that others may well be owed their deposits too, and he certainly indicated a desire to make things right. Email is the best way to contact him (that's what Trent told me). I wish him all the best, and I hope you guys can get your money back too. Cheers.

I'm glad that you had a positive interaction and achieved the result you are happy with. I'm still living in hope things will turn around for Trent and he is able to fill his back orders and re build relationships with the wood working community. I know...some of you think I'm dreaming...one has to have faith.
Maybe its because I have some of his chisels and know first hand just how good they are??? who knows. For now I just hope it all comes together for Trent and then, in turn, for us the lucky customers.

Hello all,
I thought it was time for an update to this thread. Has anyone received chisels from Trent since the last post? Personally, I'm still waiting.

Yeah, I'm with Cava on this one... I think you should probably just write it off as a loss/donation and then be pleasantly surprised if you get your chisels in the next 5-10... years.
Alternatively, you could ask for your money back. He gave me mine with no argument.
Nothing personal against him - let me make that perfectly clear. I feel like you have to be super careful with what is said in this thread because he has a good personal relationship with a lot of people on here, but, end of the day, it has the appearance of a business, so it's kind of up to you how you want to interact with said business.

Is he even still making chisels in any shape or form? Looks to me like Trent has completely moved on in life, so anyone who has paid a deposit and is waiting for chisels is going to ultimately be disappointed?
It's one thing to be in a queue waiting for something good to happen, but quite another when there is actually nothing at the head of the queue....

When I spoke to Trent back in November 2016, he made it clear that he would not be making any more chisels for a "long" time, but that he would like to in the future. He said to manage wait times, he would no longer take deposits/orders, and IF he ever makes chisels again, it would be along the lines of making sets in general, and selling sets in general. Custom chisels, or made to order chisels from Trent, are a thing of the past, according to Trent in November 2016.
I totally agree with Mr Brush about waiting with a good reason. I actually spoke at some length with Trent, and raised the idea of leaving my deposit with him in the hope of getting chisels in the future -- even distant future. But he did not want the deposit hanging over his head. I mentioned that there were others on this thread who had deposits with him, and he did not like to hear that -- he made it clear that he wanted to return deposits where possible. He did not say so, but I got the impression, that he does not have a list of deposits, or is unable to access said list?
I might also remention that Trent's business has been deregistered. I'm sad to see it come to this, but so be it.
Good luck!
Warm Regards, Luckyduck

I consciously left my deposit with H&S trying to help him out and to hopefully, eventually receive my much awaited chisels. I also did not chase him up directly, nor via the group buy, so that I did not add to the pressure that he was suffering. It now seems to be a case of more-fool-me if he doesn't even have a record of who has trusted him with their deposits?
I have moved on and I am buying chisels elsewhere but a bad taste remains.a rock is an obsolete tool ......... until you don’t have a hammer!
