    Default Inconvenient Vise!

So, I'm thinking of buying a vise. It's in Sydney (near Baulkham Hills/North Paramatta)and I'm in Melbourne. I've never arranged this sort of thing before but it's a discontinued model and the one I've been hunting for. I'm thinking perhaps of a courier company.

Of course I could always just wait for a more practically located one but they've been thin on the ground. Any suggestions?

Personally, I think if you are thinking about it - and you're not entirely certain - you should do it. Go with the gut.

If you think you will really love having it, then I'd say there's a 95% chance you will ... really love having it.

Is it an old or new type?

    Cheers,
    Paul.

What is it, what is it worth, what does it cost, how much would postage be, how bad do you want it?

I live in the North Parramatta/Baulkham Hills area and have occaisionally suffered from an inconvenient vice or two.

What sort of help do you need?

freight b/w melbourne and sydeny is cheap...
if it fits a old record type it'll fit in a medium box and will cost 20-30 bucks to post.
    do it!

    G'Day folks

Yes it's an old Record vice, and I'd love to have it as it's the quick-release type and has the round boss.

The fella wants $100 for it which seems expensive and is another reason I'm prevaricating. What's more it's a cash on pick up sort of deal.

If my sister was still in Baulkham Hills I'd ask her to put it in a box and freight it to me.

    Still pondering,

    Horaldic,

IIRC I got an old Dawn Vice off ebay - delivery was about $30.

    Hi Horaldic,

If it is in good condition and is the larger one, then I would say the $100 is a good price. I paid $245 for mine years ago, (a new one, with no character).

I do like the older ones with the round boss.

    Best of luck.

    Cheers

Ok, I've decided to buy it. It has a bit of surface rust but I'm pretty handy with phosphoric acid

Now to find an inexpensive and not overly complicated way to get it from Sydney to Melbourne.

I'll make a phone call to the folks mentioned in Bunny Lover's tip tomorrow.
