Nice job!
Well done Gerry, lovely job. I am sure your friend will be thrilled. I would be.
Did you create the plan yourself, or did you take it from somewhere?
All the best,
Anthony

G'day Gerry,
That is fantastic mate, although my recollection of the workshop at Derek's was us learning dovetails in wood not metal!!

Hi Gerry,
What a beautiful thing. Well done. I see that you now have lots more friends.
Did you buy the adjuster or did you make it from scratch? Same question for the cap iron.
Cheers

Looks very spiffy - I see you have even included 'blade-keeper' screws - did you ask Mr. Lee if that is alright?
Seeing yours has made me feel guilty - the one I started a year ago is still unfinished. Maybe it will come to the top of the 'to-do' pile before my holidays are over.
Cheers,IW

Thanks for for all the comments.
Anthony I used ideas from Peter Mcbrides web site as well as from the book by Jim Kingshott.
Pops the blade adjuster is from St Bay tools and the levercap is from a block of Brass that I cut and shaped by hand. Photos below are of the hardware I used to make parts of the plane'

Gerry,
Congratulations, you have done an amazing job on the plane!
When I published the way I make my planes, I was always mindful that others might find the information useful, and I hoped that it made infill plane making, for the sheer pleasure of it, a simpler and attainable enterprise.
The fact you have made it as a gift is wonderful.
Do you have any more pictures of your steps in the making? I'm always fascinated about how people from different skill backgrounds ( woodwork, metalwork, instrument making..etc) go about the making of the plane, and how the problems encountered were solved.
Regards,
Peter McBride

Hi Gerry,
Nice work.
Have you used any of the 6mm brass I sent you yet, I am interested to know how easy it is to work. I bought a copy of Jim Kingshott's book on your recommendation and plan to build a plane in the new year (that is after I build a saw or two and attend a chair making workshop with Neil Erasmus)
Regards,
Chris

Thanks for all the comments they are all good even the idea of the FOG, my wife wants to join.
Peter this time I did take more photos so I will post them soon, as well as were I got some of the materials I used from.
As to how long it took to make I estermate around 100Hrs and lapping was only about 2 Hrs as I have restored a full set of Falcon Planes, So this step I was confident to do and the easiest step.
Chris I cut out another plane the other day, still to cut the dovetails yet but it cuts easy. Will keep you posted.
Cheers Gerry
