Default Irwin Quick Grip XP clamps?

    Hi Guys

I want to purchase some more clamps and already have some Bessey clamps that are very good.

Whilst I don't use them frequently, I still want the clamps to be strong and work!

I have seen the Irwin Quick Grip XP clamps (http://www.irwin.com.au/cdetail.php?...ders%3C%2Fa%3E) and they look strong and the prices are considerably cheaper that than Bessey.

Does anyone have any comments about buying the Irwin clamps?

    Thanks guys
    Regards
    Greg

I bought a bunch of the ~600mm clamps from Just Tools a couple of weeks ago. Certainly work well, clamp strong, and don't "explode" when you release them.

I've got the 300mm model and find it very strong and easy to use ... wish I had more.
    Cheers.

I agree with the others, but will add one more point - mainly for others who may read this thread later.

The XP Irwins are soooo much better than the non-XP variety. Don't bother with the old style Irwins - they do not have as strong a grip.

Yep, the XP clamps are fantastic! Though I wouldn't trade my K-Bodies for anything. Different clamp, different job I guess.

I love my Quick Grips! I am going to buy more... And they convert to spreaders too. Really easy to use one handed, nice deep jaws.

So great when you are up a ladder trying to lift something heavy into place, just one squeeze and it is held securely. The beam I was clamping to a post must have weighed 50kgs or more and it really only took one squeeze to hold it tight. Could not have done it with my k body clamps, not enough arms.

As mentioned before, Quick Grips are good for quickly holding things together, 1600x600x100 bench tops before getting the Bessey's out
