One for the Kiwis
I was in need of a combination square. searched the net (Trademe)and came across Starrett Combination square for $250 NZD, brand new, seller is Starrett NZ, everything seems legit but maybe too good to be true, similar Mitutoyo or PEC combination square cost in the $400-$500 NZD mark (I think this combination square retails for $500 AUD in Australia)
To make sure everything is legit, I asked to pickup the item from them - Which turn out to be Starrett NZ distributor in Penrose/Onehunga.
so, if you need a combination square and you are in NZ. you are in luck!

Where was it made?
Starret who was a Scot had initial production in the U.S.
Then Scotland and more recently Brazil.
Wonder if it's now China?

Hi,
that's a good buy. From the Starrett.com website, this is Made in the USA and cost is US $234. while in Australia it is AU $495
What's the name of the firm in Penrose who is the Starrett NZ distributor? I have not been able to find them via searching on the Internet.
Thanks

Hiroller,
thanks for the link to Mytools. I had noticed that this firm sold Starrett tools, but I had worries that they could be cheap Chinese illegal copies - seems they are not.
We get fake copies of big name cordless tool batteries being sold in TradeMe (=NZ version of eBay as we don't have eBay in NZ) so hence my concern.
I just bought a Starrett 100mm double square from Amazon UK and got it shipped to NZ - it seems genuine made in US Starrett tools come with a signed QA form.
