Maybe if they haven't paid by the final date you ought to name and shame them.

Common courtesy requires contact from those who have not paid even if they are unable to go ahead with their commitment.

Thumbsucker needs to hear from them. I hope they will honour their contract as it is a fabulous opportunity to have unique quality tools with a personal stamp.

I understand the frustration that Thumbsucker would be going through but I do not agree with the above comment of naming and shaming.

You would not normally push people around on the street, so this should be the case here as well.

    Lets see what happens.

    Thank you

This is a bit different then pushing people around.

These are forum members that VOLUNTARY entered into the group buying scheme and then WELSH on their commitment thus putting the organiser (and group) at a considerable financial risk as well as risking the good name of these forums and all its members.

I hope they pay up as soon as possible, but if they don't then maybe this is an option.

After reading my post I see that it might have been better for me to say "you would not normally treat people badly when you do not know them"

Please excuse my previous chosen words.

Yep I agree this could be a concern and it can be resolved. I personally feel that shaming people is not going to have any affect on people paying their commitments.

I have dealings with people on both sides, some good and some not so good.

I am glad to say that I have heard from three blokes out of the ten odd. They also happened to be the biggest buyers from the lots. The three will pay asap. The other seven odd, are sub $300 orders, if I have not heard from them by the due date they will have to be bumped of the list.

We should be okay as long the the money comes in faster then what we need to payout.

I would be happy to participate in this order if some are unable to fulfill their commitments. Please inform me after the cut off date as to what is available.

It isn't a nice thing to make a commitment and then not follow through. However, it is true that things have been crook financially for a lot of people. Retirees are taking a pretty big hit at the moment watching their nestegg dwindle, a lot of small businesses (and some large) are also finding it tough. Contractors and tradies mostly say that it just ain't like it was 3 or 4 years ago.

For some it may be a difficult thing to admit.

Without the benefit of the whole story it is, in my view, a bit hard to be critical of others and their circumstances.

    Cheers

Good point. That is also why people should make contact with Thumbsucker. It does not have to be on the open forum. A PM will suffice.

Good to have your support available in case it is needed. I hope a few others will put their hands up too.

Hi TS, Are you still waiting on payment of many of the chisels etc"? Just wondering what's left over at this stage.

    Cheers

    Hi Simon,

I picked up the order from the water jet cutter yesterday, meanwhile, I'm currently in the process of still sorting things out, Helmut will be posting an update within the next few days, when we know how we stand.

    Regards
    Ray

    Hi All,

The preliminary clean up of the firmer bench chisels is complete, they came up nicely.

Next step is to grind to dimension before sending them off for heat treatment.

They are relaxing in a Lanox bath for temporary storage...

    Regards
    Ray

Don't force it, use a bigger hammer.
