It's not a Monday, but it seems the right place to put up two successful bids from a real auction ...
The $100 2hp DC ... that was about to go for $50 until that one guy decided to have a crack.
And $75 for a big wood rack ... with the three other sections thrown in.
So the last week has been deforestation and cleaning of the lower driveway, with the potential prospect of actually being able to use it once again
Cheers,
Paul

I have the same DC. Hasn't given any trouble in 8 years. You'll want some blast gates if you're going to hook it up to a few things though.
That's a big wood rack. Nice. Are you going to make a roof for it?...I'll just make the other bits smaller.

You've seen it Bob ... it can *only* be a good thing
Will save a LOT of space.
The big one unbolts (or I'd never move it) ... it will go right down the back to the wood 'shed' that used to be a compost heap.
Hi Matt. That's good to know. Initially I see it for the big thicknesser, which up 'til now has utilised the older technology I like to call 'cover the yard in chips'. I already have a 1hp DC which seems to cope hooked up to the tablesaw - but we'll see in future.
That's a good idea ... there's quite a bit of plywood here ... I was planning on going with tarps. (btw brace will make it into the mail shortly)
Cheers,
Paul

Its not yet Monday
The garage sale said tools and collectable tools - selling off entire workshop contents
So I didnt go - Saturday morning is the only time me and her outdoors (working 7 days a week) ever really see each other in daylight
Back home - she has to head off to her workshop to sew - I realise that I have forgotten to buy dogmeat and head off and have to drive past the garage sale
You guessed it
"All the old tools are gone - lots of people early!!"
But you have to look around anyway
4 f clamps
2Kgs of wiltshire files and rasps (dirty but sharp including some 8 inch safe edges)
stainless steel Metre (double sided 40 Inch) rule
Disston Canada meat saw with a Tyzack blade
2 packs of the o-rings for garden hose fittings
and
lying totally ignored amongst the power tools etc a circa 1917-28 Disston 112 - 7 point crosscut 26inch - bit of surface rust (brown) 3 minutes to bring up the etch - absolutely straight - minor chips on the handle. Its not particularly sharp
But
$55.00 the lot
And the boys got their meat and bones

My turn to get lucky.
i visited an antique and collectibles warehouse two weeks ago, and could not resist a couple of the items on display. First was a Parkinson vice, Model F, size 8, which means it has 6 inch jaws, opens to 8 inches and has a quick release. I was so keen to get it apart, and check the condition that I did not take a photo before I started. However, I have a few shots during restoration, and at the conclusion. BTW, it cost me $70. Condition of the working parts was very good, despite the top having been used as an anvil. I replaced the handle with a new one I made from 19mm bright steel. Everything else is original. The sliding jaw is as smooth as silk.
Second find was a Dawn 611 Post Drill. Again this one is in very good condition, with no missing parts, no rust, and everything working as per original. Restoration not yet started. This will be a longer term project as I do not expect it to be a user. I had no idea of the value of the thing, but got it for $140, which seemed reasonable.
Third item in my run of luck is a set of chisels I received as a gift. These comprise a 2 inch Stormont, two Titans, and four Bergs. All needed a bit of touching up at the sharp end, but have minimal rust, and will definitely be users.

Wow, very nice,
Good job on the vice, and that post drill looks pretty good as is. And free chisels, good ones too!
