I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Not at all! You just knap a new edge on it with a lump of antler.

The cutting ablity of flint has to be seen to be believed. It is shaveing sharp and keeps the edge for a ling time. I have seen a few people that can flint knap and was gobsmacked at the result. One guy made arrow heads from beer bottle glass and then offered them to people to shave with. Flint was even sharper.
That one on the bay is very old stone age like as the neolithic would have been ground and polished

    Hmmm!

I think I have seen one of these before in the Science Museum at Kensington.
If you have a look underneath, you probably will find the name of the person who made it.

    Some guy called "Preston Record"

You obviously haven't seen me in action then! I did a bout of knapping when I read archaelology - very sharp, yes, but I'd have starved before producing a presentable set of arrow heads to use...

Obsidian flakes are still used in eye surgery, as it gives a thinner, sharper edge than the surgeions usual edged weapons.

    cheers,
