Default C Nurse & Co Plane

    Hello all,

After a wander around the local swapmeet this morning I bought a little wooden plane for $15. Not sure if it was a good buy or not.

I'll post a pic in the morning but in the meantime,

It's a flattend oval shape, and it bears the name "C. Nurse & Co" "Invicta" with a prancing horse logo. It also says "London SE". About 10inches long with, and this is the stange part, a steel sole.

It was in pretty good shape, taking wispy shavings after a mere 1 hour of scary sharpening the blade and sole. In internet search suggests it's at least 100 years old.

Also picked up a 1//4 inch "Titan" "Hobat Steel" chisel. Not so sure about that though.

    Any thoughts?
This could get addictive. If SWMBO was not there I reckon I would've come home with at least 6 or 7 planes

    Cheers

    Heres the pic.

The photographic medium is pretty unforgiving, it looks a lot rought here that it seems in your hands.

Any thoughts on how to clean up the body?

    Cheers

    Cool cleaning

Yes it is 100 years old, more like 1860-80
Do not clean. It will take away from the value of it being an antiqure.
You did ok on price. They bring $35 US in that condition.
Good ones bring more depending on maker.
    Hope this helps.
