    DJ,

What's the deal if you were not on the blessed list?

Sorry for the lack of updates, have a bit of chest infection and picked up more work than expected this week. So I haven't been doing any more packing and posting since the first lot, but whoever is left, they'll have theirs all packaged this weekend and ready to post on Monday.
    Cheers

    DJ

When I leave for work in the morning it is dark. When I get home it is still dark.

So the closest that I have come to the chisels is this

    Thumbs up

Mine arrived late yesterday into my letter box. They look really good.

    Thanks again gents.

Very well packaged, DJ You could have cut back on the packaging with no real increase in risk to the tools.

Now to make handles and patiently wait for the 12mm to be produced.

    Christos,
Not sure why you only got a delivery advice and not the chisels, must be because your letterbox was too small to accommodate them.

Christos - bit of a Catch 22 there....

You need the chisels to make your new, larger letterbox. The chisels required obviously won't fit into your existing letterbox. Basically, you're stuffed.....

Either the package wouldn't fit, or its a registered item that needs to be signed for (DJ?). A visit to your local PO is in order, or you can sign the bottom of the form and have someone else collect for you.

DJ - are these being sent out in Express Post satchels (no signature required) or by some form of registered post?

    Cheers

Thx TS and DJ and all that put time in for this project.

My type 1 and 2 chisels arrived friday. At first I thought I'd made a mistake by getting un-machined chisels as these things are hard. But it didn't take long to get rolling. The first set is ground flat and beveled. The 3mm was a bit of a challenge but has come out well. The wife said it was time to quit at about 10:30 tonight so polishing the backs starts tomorrow - said something about the grinding noise keeping her awake... Should be starting on the ferrules and handles next weekend.

The long set is going to involve a bit more thinking as the length is, how shall I say this, long... 250mm doesn't look all that long until you see the chisel blanks up close and personal.

two fingers, we would love to see photos.

For longer chisels. You may consider making a holder, by cut a 3.35 mm slot in a piece of stable square piece of wood, then imbed rare earth magnets into the wood. This is very much how Rippon did it.

Mine have arrived - TS, DJ and all others who were involved thanks heaps

It is amazing to think what you have achieved and I am sure everyone who is part of the order is appreciative of the result

Next part is the assembly so I went back through the thread and found post 153 that has some info (don't know how to link), just wondering if anyone has started to put theirs together

I note the ferrules are a bit loose so epoxy might be required

The 3mm one scares me it looks soo delicate

Trust me it's not as delicate as it looks. I've been abusing mine as I draw it through a grinding rig and it held up well.

    two fingers

Good to hear it isn't that frail - I was imagining driving the handle on and bending it. 3 x 3 with the sides ground is getting like a knitting needle!

Sounds like a good idea. Might even see if I can cut a slot in some ally on a table saw...

I started a lets see em thread for an exchange of ideas on what to do... No idea how to link things so you'll have to go looking for it in the hand tool forum
