Perth Wood Show
Those of us on the West coast probably know the Wood Show is on this weekend, starting Friday 4th. First off, whose going and what will you be looking out for? I always enjoy the Lie Nielsen and HTPAA stalls.

I shall be there on Saturday and Sunday, joining Chris Vesper on his stand. We usually put on a show of some sort, usually competing against each other. Dovetails at 10 paces? Any suggestions?
I also have a piece entered in the furniture comp - although I do not expect to win anything ... it's just fun to be part of the show. I hope others are entering something as well.
Come over and say hi.
Regards from Perth

Ferg I think you mean the HTPSWA stall unless those HTPAA Mexicans have snuck across the border! The HTPSWA theme this year is "old trades' and as usual we'll all be trying to make our stand as interesting as possible with demo's, displays and tool sales. I'll be attempting to amaze visitors using a few old wheelwright tools to make ROUGH bush mallets.
It's always a good opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones so come and say G'day.
Cheers,
Geoff.

Hi Derek,
The Vesper stand is one where I stop and stare at the shiny objects. As to the show you and Chris put on, I always like seeing hand cut joinery. Maybe some half blind dovetails?
Regards,
Zac.

Sorry about the acronym, Geoff. I meant the People's Republic of Judea...
Good to hear about the demonstation of the wheelwright's tools. My Grandad had and used his own to make iron bound carriage wheels way back when. They've since gone on to my Uncle, but I'll be interested to have a look at some.
Regards,
Zac

Hi Geoff,
I have just read through the HTPSWA's monthly news letter 'The Benchmark'
and was impressed with the write up about the clubs display at the Perth Wood Show.
Your display of 19th century braces and bits is excellent, you have quite a diverse
range of types and sizes, and the lay out is very easy to see every thing, well done.
Plus you made up 20 of your mallets, were they a fund raiser exercise?
Also the secretary of our club is over in your part of the country, you may see him
at your next meeting on Thursday.
Regards
Graham.

Thanks Graham,
I look forward to meeting him. As far as those mallets go, if a visitor has the patience to stand and watch for the 20 or so minutes it takes me to make one I'll present it to them when I finish.
Cheers,
Geoff.
