Like him I also added a wooden sub fence; in my case I used 3/8" thick hardwood about 40mm deep.

And also like him; I take a nick out of my port index finger every. Single. Time!

Last thing; check that the bottom of the depth stops is actually parallel with the plane base. Often they are a few degrees out; nothing that a few minutes with a file can't cure.
I have now added a sub fence to the rebate plane as I had a spare off cut of 40mm X 18mm pine and made it slightly longer than the main fence, it came out to play tonight while I was putting some timber together that I had cut tongue and grooves into for another rustic style bin to finish my mates request for a couple of them and found that I had missed a tongue on one board so used the rebate plane to do the main cutting of it and the combination plane with its plough iron to lightly shave it down till I got a firm fit into the groove on one of the boards and it came out perfect. the sub fence made the rebate plane so much easier to use and felt I had better control of it being able to press against the fence a bit better.

I now have a full set of cutters for the combination plane I found some on our local auction site called trademe made a ball park figure offer for a buy now after asking for the thickness which turned out to be 3mm thick and matches the thickness of the only cutter I currently have for my 13-052 combination plane and got them for $60NZ buy now which got me all of the beading, plough and the tongue irons the only one missing was the 1/4" plough iron they are from a record 50C so I am stoked with the fact that I can now really see what this little plane can do and I saved a bit of money finding these ones compoared to what I was going to pay on Ebay which was going to be $126NZ for 11 irons and my local purchase got me 17 irons for less

It's not your doing, Skil, there's a definite glitch in the system & it's happening to many of us, constantly - not every post, but a high proportion of mine want to double-up. It's been reported, & "they're working on it", but without much success yet, it seems...

    Cheers,
