Two Plane makers
Today I decided a few of my favorite planes needed some space and I've put them on display for a bit.
I love to use these things and I enjoy the aesthetic too.
Sauer and Steiner and Daed toolworks. Thanks Konrad and Raney.

A very enviable set. Looks like one of the cast bullnose planes that Konrad wrote about in 2012.

Funny how things like this work, just started following Sauer on Instagram. Makes some beautiful stuff!

You have an incredible collection there mate. One day I hope to buy one of Konrads K series planes....
Have you considered building a custom tool cabinet for your planes?

I'm moving house shortly so I hope to build my shop in my double garage over the next little bit. So by the end of 2018 I hope to have a few tool cabinets and chests sorted. The big Ebony Set, the veritas and assorted metal planes, the infills and then there is the chisels and saws. I'll get there.

Don't forget to leave a little space for the odd few chisels. Maybe not quite the same class.

Ray, from what I have seen the chisels are right up there. Looking forward to setting up shop in a dedicated space for the first time.

Very nice collection
Would love to see them
Maybe you could bring one or two along to the next Melbourne GTG
Cheers Matt
Also understand if you didn't want to bring them

Matt, this is what happened last time Kev left a plane within reach of someone that wasn't him.

OK. I think a dedicated display cupboard is definitely warranted, but in the light of Tony's post (thanks for the reminder) it should be really high up on the wall or locked up in bullet proof glass.

Matt,
I'll bring a few along at some stage and of course people can handle them and use them. They are just tools that cut wood after all. If they are not used they are totally wasted. Konrad was very understanding when the first plane was damaged. Chris Swartz looked at it and said...hmmmm just put some blue tape over it and use the thing. I've been tempted to sand down the bulge and glue the dust in the crack but decided on that these are tools to use as much as I can so there was no point. Tools that and used are just paper weights.
