The what are you proud of thread!

I just came in from the workshop and was thinking about how some things give you a silly little sense of pride; whether it might be the cool plane you saved up to buy, little acheivements like making a useful tool you always use, or a system you worked out to make life easier in the workshop or anything at all.

This thread is a way to show of whatever you have that gives you a buzz.
Put up a small pic and a little explanation of what it is and give us all a look

My two are some handles I am making for my set of chisels that I still haven't finished and some interesting dovetail joints I am in the process of finishing. I'll have the dovetails up here tomorrow.

But for now it's up to you guys!

Trying to keep the photos to one or two might be a idea though

Managing to replace all my old shed equipment with new (mostly Festool) to leave to my adult son. The pale grey of the systainers is almost artwork in its own right.

Once did a 6" bowl out of Huon and got it really thin. No fussing with calipers, just decided to go with the flow and give up worrying.

Gave it away before taking a pic ... sorry Nick.

I'm proud of the restoration job I did on my Falcon 5 1/2 plane. It looks fantastic for a 50 yr old plane.

I'm not proud of not finishing the restoration job on the other planes that I own...

I'm proud that most of the time when I hit a problem with woodwork I puzzle it out until I find a solution rather than losing my temper.

I'm not proud that sometimes this puzzling out process takes me weeks...

I'm proud of the good job that I'm doing on the storage/thumping benches I'm making for my garage/workshop.

I'm not proud that the above benches are taking me soooo long to finish...

Eldanos - "proud" has a few negative connotations for some of us 'more mature' types (I'm not old! ). So let's say these are something I was very pleased with when I made them. A set of gauges & a scratch-awl from She-oak taken from the old farm where I grew up. They all work pretty well, but there are a few minor things I would change if I were to make them now, so I'm less pleased with them than I was.

However, each time I pick one up, it reminds me of 'home' & years spent mucking about & doing stupid (but fun!) things back in an age when kids could be kids. So they are still valued.....

Excellent, glad this thread took off Here's one of my many little joys.
The reason why it's special is that my best mate's Grandad gave it to me along with am unused set of boxed Nooitgedagt chisels as a gift because I replaced all the drawers in their old bathroom for them. He was a cabinetmaker from Estonia and he knew I'd be able to use them. He died a few months later. He was such a nice old guy that I loved and the chisels have become so special to me. The 2" had never been used, not even honed, but I don't want to leave it in a cupboard because I get so much joy from using it.. with care
