I'll be sending Noel orders in batches, and so therefore in the near future I will be emailing to those who have already placed their order.
Cheers, FF

Liogier Saw Files
Well I'll be damned! Noel also makes Saw Files. I sent him a query on behalf of a member who is after a Horse Rasp (he must have a lumpy horse), and he casually enquired about Saw Files - to which the answer was "yes - prices will be coming to you". I know nothing of the range on offer at this point, but probably come Monday night I'll have them.
Don't forget about the Milled file range. The "Chip Breaker" is for sticky metals such as Aluminium, Lead and "oily" timber, so not generally required.
Cheers, FF

Cool I have been going to get some more saw files. After using the rasps again yesterday I think I will add something realy fine to my order also. I was using them to tidy a mitre joint that had squewed a little and a finer one would have been great.

Thanks for your advice Brett & Mark with helping me choose 2 rasps for my order. Good advice & didn't make me totally confused.
Ended up with 2 x 1/2 rounds, a 7 & 13.

Glad I could help John and not confuse, I often end up creating more questions than were asked in the first place. I have added to my order and gone finer after again finding more uses. I was thinking about your No4 original selection while roughing out that axe handle but didn't think it would be that much more usefull than the 6. Oh and here is the finished product, ready for battle. The grain direction in the handle isn't perfect, it started off as a prototype but the Tas Myrtle seems to have enough strength and its not like a normal axe, it's a short handle for chipping and carving, not for felling trees or splitting wood. Other than the original cutting out on the band saw it was all rasp work and some 120 grit to 240 grit sand paper at the end. Time 2-3 hours, finished with boiled linseed.

Like "Oh I just bumped into those pics that I deliberately uploaded a few minutes ago" or is that one that you prepared before?
Good job Mark. That'll be a satisfying one I reckon - you get to use the end product. I'm just doing a rejig of my 5x3 Barn - rotating/moving bench etc in preparation for the Router/Saw Table combo I'm going to build. The filing/rasping/sanding bench has now got a nice blank bit of MDF wall next to it. Might hang some rasps there I reckon.
I'm thinking of using a magnetic bar from Aldis to hold Rasps (not files). Should be fine for everything except Ironbark. The Workzone Mag bars are crazy strong, and absurdly cheap. For ten miserable bucks you get two 600mm bars, a 125mm dish and a 225x100 dish. The magnets are so good that in the shop there was a bit of a fracas when I tried to get the packet away from the others! I was previously concerned about their Chinese magnetic strength, but I was convinced!

I love that axe Mark. Handle looks great too. Nice job.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Hi Tony, it's nasty little beast, well not so little. Can't wait to get into a project with it.
You pick that up and feel like you want to go and fight Mongals or gladiators

Well this must be a world record! I have just placed the first order of 32 rasps (29 are Sapphire). The coating process adds two weeks (where I estimated one week) so I imagine that they will be delivered in about 4-5 weeks. Members will be notified of the applied exchange rate etc.
In discussion with Noel we have been able to settle on a very simple system for freight charges:
150mm and less E3.75
175-200mm E4.25
225-250mm E4.75
275+mm E5.50 (which would include 350mm Milled Files)
I will add these to a formula in the spreadsheet so that future versions will calculate it automatically.
Cheers, FF

That's a fantastic result on the freight FF, well done and definitely worth the negotiations.
Cheers,
Steve.
