Anyone recognise this chisel maker?
OK, yet another question for you tool tragics
I've been googling my fingers to the bone, but without luck.
Who can help me with an ID on more of Dad's tools?
Please let me know if you have any ideas on the manufacturer of this chisel.
I have 2 other smaller ones with the same mark on the blade, but they are narrower blades and less of the mark is evident.
This will be the first of many chisel related questions I will be posting over the coming days, so get your thinking caps on
I've already ID'd a Signal, and a FG Pearson Acute...these are next on the list.
All feedback appreciated.

Hi Rod,
The lower word under the crown is Garantie (Guarantee or Guaranteed).
The handle looks European, possibly German or Swedish.
Are you able to clean just a little more to see what the letters are?
It looks like J.N.?.?.
Take a wander around Wolfgan's museum of European toolmakers.
Kleines Werkzeugmuseum (Eingang)
I don't read German but Google does a passable job of translating:
Google Translate
A lot of the trademarks and logos use the Crown symbol but you might get lucky (I took a quick look but didn't see the mark in your tool.
Searching for Crown on this page gives a lot of hits but I didn't see one matching yours:
Google Translate
This page has a JNSL which could match yours (the 3rd letter on yours might be too narrow to be an S but some more gentle cleaning might show what it is)
JNSL ineinander verschlungen
Jakob Neuroth Söhne, Remscheid-Lüttringhausen
Google Translate
Wolf, are you there? Do you recognise it?

I have the almost identical chisel, have owned it since I was 18 years old! It was my first, and for quite some time only, chisel.
It has been used, and certainly abused, over the years and looks much the worse for wear.
The back says 1" - 28mm - Swedish Steel
The makers mark says JN1J Garantie
Don't know the maker, but it was certainly purchased in Europe, Holland to be exact, I have the little brother to it somewhere to, about 10mm from memory.

thank you both very much for your detective work on this one, I now have lots more info with which to continue my research.
I'm hoping to track down likely age, history and perhaps get an idea of collectors value.
Look out Google, here I come!
Anybody else own some of these or know more?
great work fellas

Rod, I seem to remember that these were made by Nooitgedacht, they made lots of chisels, wooden planes etc. They also made the best wooden skates in Holland.
Try this link
Oops, just noticed I got the spelling wrong it is Nooitgedagt

Yes, it's Nooitgedagt in The Netherlands/Holland. The mark is JNIJ and stands for Jan Nooitgedagt, IJlst (town in HOlland). Everything else has already been said. I found a better picture of this stamp on a plane iron:

Okay!
We have a positive ID on the maker and I've used that info to search for more, but there are surprisingly few references to these chisels, and not many at all that have been sold recently (I did see some on this forum from the past).
If I post up some more pics, can you fellas tell me the type of chisel they are?
I've read that they have different names and different uses, but I'm still very much confused
Dimensions are : (left to right in picture)
1) blade width approx 9.5mm
thickness (thickest point) approx 4mm
2) blade width approx 12.7mm
thickness (thickest point) approx 5mm
3) blade width approx 31.75
thickness (thickest point) approx 8mm
All feedback appreciated.
