    Default Record 050 combination plane

Whilst in Tassie over XMAS I picked up a 050 plane & Stanley adjustable spoke shave.
The 050 is rust free & mostly complete...
One part I need is the height adjuster plate.
Also I'm not sure what the purpose is for other removable plate is for.
Not having used an 050 or similar before, Any info you can offer is appreciated.

I assume the "height adjuster plate" you are referring to is the depth gauge? If so they tend to be pretty hard to find. If you feel like making one I can give you the measurements. I think you are also missing the "clamping bracket" used for the 1/8" and 3/16" wide cutters; that's not such an easy part to replicate.

The depth gauge pictured between the plane and the cutter box is the "beading stop", it is designed for running beading down the tongue edge of a tongue and groove board. This was commonly used in paneling. HERE is a video showing its use on a Stanley combination plane

    Hi Chief Tiff
Yes you are right on all counts.
It would be great If you could send me the measurements, so I could make a depth gauge. I'll send you a PM.
Maybe in time I'll come across a clamping gauge. [emoji57]

When I was looking for parts for my Record plane, I came across this manual for a 050. If you haven’t got a manual, it may come in handy.

    Additional.
I have added this manual plus the Record 043/044 manual to the Manual section on this site

    Default Record 050 depth stop

Here is a picture of the depth stop along with the measurements. I noticed though that I forgot to add the total height of the rod from the bottom of the stop; it is exactly one inch long.
