    Default record bullnose plane 077 depth adjuster screw has side to side play any fixes?

    My record bullnose plane 077 came with a coarse thread depth adjusting screw that has a lot of side to side movement.
    Should it be welded or brazed?
    I would have chosen a finer thread depth adjusting rod & would tap deeper threaded hole in the plane body.
