Pete Taran's Vintage Saws website might be a good place to start. Check out the Library section for a few good articles on saws. The article titled Saw Filing--A Beginner's Primer talks about rip saw tooth geometry.

Thanks for the link to Pete Taran's site Mirboo.
His saws are obviously popular as most are already sold.
Hi Shippers,
The best place to find ripsaws is in my experience the Sunday Markets,
Consistently, of all the saws on offer each week, it is the backsaws and crosscut saws which seem to sell best, and the ripsaws that get sold last.
They must feel like the unwanted last kids in the line, when teams are being picked for backyard cricket.
Market prices are pretty good as well.
At our markets each Sunday there are usually 2 or 3 backsaws, 5 or 6 crosscut saws and 2 or three rips. Most of the backsaws sell for about$35, the crosscuts about $25-$30 and the rips for $20-$25.
All of these are usually sharpened and ready to use.
Prices probably indicate popularity and not necessarily quality- eg a shiny Warranted Superior might be more expensive than a Philadelphia Disson that looks a little dull.
So check out you local markets and tell the tool man what you are after. My experience is that you will get plenty of assistance. The sellers love repeat customers.
If you are really stuck, let me know and I'll find one for you.
RB also sells them and would be happy to look after you. He's a top bloke and lives closer to you. Send him a PM if you want.
regards
