Default Rust (old tool) hunting in Northern Sydney- where to go?

I will be in Sydney in June for one weekend (26th to 28th) and would like to go rust hunting (old tool hunting) with my (woodworking newbie) brother. I will be staying in Killara on the northside and will have access to a car.

I was thinking of going to the markets at north rocks if it is still operating, but am not sure if it would be worth the trip.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Regards,

    James

Sometimes the auction place at Thornleigh has old tools in its auctions of general goods on the weekends. Check out their website to see what sales are coming up.
    Cheers

I am looking for old tools with restoration potential. Specifically my brother is after his first user plane and I though I would show him the ropes.

North Rocks is very uneven in tool availability, you might be lucky (I live close by but only get there infrequently). You are a bit late for the Working with Wood Show (19-21 June) which is a pity because there will be a number of sellers on the TTTG stand http://www.tttg.org.au/php/tttg_Page.php?n=04. There is also a market at Roselle (in the school grounds) but that is usually very poor for tools.

    Cheers

Thanks for the advice Peter, looks like it might be a bit of a pot luck
