    Default Shannon Rogers' Tool Cabinet

Here's a link to the video. I really like the idea behind grouping tools according to their commonly used tasks. Also, he has some really nice stuff.

    Enjoy,
    Zac.

One of the niftiest tool cupboards I've seen in a while! Really like the way the three layers of hinged compartments work. If I ever need to build another tool cupboard (& I sincerely hope I won't!), I think I'll be borrowing that idea.

I like his philosophy of grouping the tools by usage, but that probably doesn't work so well for most of us amateurs because we do all sorts of different things, & it would be difficult for me to come up with other than very general categories. I've just tried to keep all tools easily accessible, and the most-used get the podium spots, which seems to work well enough for me.

I also found a long time ago, that having a place for everything & trying to put tools away as you finish with them is a very good practice! Pity I don't always stick to it! However, I do always put my stuff away at the end of the day, & more than once I've noticed some small thing missing, & eventually found it in the shavings & sawdust. One time, the missing tool was in the shavings & sawdust that had already been bagged ready to drop in the wheely-bin...

Had a little chuckle at his honesty, too - I also discovered after I'd built my tool cabinet that was to hold all the tools I ever needed or wanted that there were still a few I had to have (like about a dozen extra saws!) & had to find other space for the late-comers....

    Cheers,
    IW
