    WOW
I cleaned out a garage yesterday, there were not any "new" spanners there, but there were lots of Sidchrome stuff including Whitworth stuff, some going back to the early days.
Have to dust the cobwebs off the Ebay listing page. Just went to look, Why have they have made it ridiculously hard
Now I remember why I take all that stuff to our HTPAA sales.
    Regards,
    Peter

either people on ebay are going nuts or sidchrome tools are like gold.

those prices are ridicoulous for that price, even if there australian made big deal, id rather pay top dollar and get snap on or stahwile, 530 bucks for ring spanners is a joke in my opinion whoever bought those they would prob hang em up for an ornament piece haha, tools are to use not for looks!!!

I think that these are nice to own. Only problem with me is that I do not have any to begin with. Could be a while before I get to owning a set of spanners at that price.

Yes and there's something that goes on the end in the song.

Something like ' It's the one the experts use'.

After reading your post, I decided to have a look in my tool box at all of the old tools (all AF sizes) Dad generously gave me when I bought my first car in 1998.

There was quite a diverse (in terms of quality) collection of manufacturers represented from KMart (one spanner) to Stahwille (a cold chisel and a solitary socket).

A couple of Dufor tools and a pair of Dowdat multigrips.

Is/Was Minimax a decent brand? I have a small set of open ended spanners.

I've attached a picture of the Sidchrome tools which make up the majority of the set.

good collection u have there, maybe u might want to give them a clean which will stop the rust from continuing, these spanners and sockets are just rising in price!

AFAIK there is nothing inferior about new Minimax tools, those sold in the 70's were considered top quality. I still have a Minimax field service kit I bought new in about 1974 ($300), the box is long gone (backed over by MIL) but the set is still complete. but expanded as needed. Also have a 3/4 drive set of Kokens I have never been able to break, even with a length of pipe.
    regards, Bill
